Video Episode in late March Steelhead Fishing on the Applegate River in beautiful Southern Oregon!

The Video above is of our first day of Steelhead Fishing on the Applegate River in Southern Oregon. We thought that it would be a good couple of days but had no idea the amount of fish we would hook and land. We are talking well over thirty fish hooked in two days between four of us. We fished using floats the entire weekend and every fish was caught using a sliding float or bobber setup like in THIS VIDEO! I would say that 90% of the fish we caught were on small micro jigs. We also hooked many fish with roe under our floats. A pink worm is one of my favorite baits to throw out and we hooked and landed many fish on it as well. I also had one fish slam one of my spoons but I missed that fish unfortunately. We lost the three big fish we hooked into (14+lbs) but its very hard to tame a steelhead using four and six pound test!!! I lost one fish that was well into the teens but unfortunately for me after a long battle my small jig gave out on me, but it was my fault as I should have put a new one on after catching three or four fish on it. We probably landed 80% of the fish hooked and I believe this has to do with fishing using a float, as this style of fishing results in good hookups most of the time. I hope you enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed making it!! Thanks for checking out our first High Definition Video Episode and you can watch day two of our Applegate Steelhead Video Episode HERE!
