Micro Jig Steelhead Episode
Video Episode fishing for Winter Steelhead in low, clear conditions where micro jigs reign supreme!
"-Micro Jig Winter Steelhead-"
(January 2nd 2009)
We went out for some low, clear water steelhead action and the micro jigs came through as always! The river we were on normally fishes best at around 6 ft at tidewater and this day the water gauge was reading 3 ft at tidewater!! That is as low as it gets in the summer and makes the flow around 200 cfs or lower in the upper river. We fished a well known hole half the day and hooked four of the fish out of that hole. One of the fish (pictured below) that I hooked Daniel accidentally pushed the play button twice so we got four minutes filming his feet and none of the fish, except this picture right before the camera turned off. LOL! If we were alone we may have hooked even more. The more pressure on the fish the less they are interested, but even with this hole getting pounded all day every day we pulled four out. We moved on to a few other spots and I hooked a large (12 lb), beautiful, bright hen that put up a great fight! We just need some rain now and things will be wide open, from what we have heard there are fish in the lower coastal rivers just waiting to come in so great fishing should be on the way.
