We were invited to go out fishing with Tyson Crumley on a guided trip fishing the Illinois and Elk Rivers in southern Oregon. The water had been dropping for about two weeks when we had an opening to get down and fish the coast so it was low clear conditions like most of this year but we hit it hard anyway. We spent half a day fishing the Lower Illinois River and what a beautiful river it is! It gets a good run of native steelhead and is a great river if you love fly fishing as well as swinging spoons and spinners. Then we fished the Sixes River looking for some fresh steelhead and if is more our type of river small and clear! I recommend getting out to fish either of these rivers and if you have never fished them before Tyson can put you right were the fish will be. He has lived in Gold Beach all his life and knows the Rogue, Elk, Sixes, Chetco and Illinois probably better than anyone and has fished on them since he was a kid.

Tyson Fishes the Elk, Sixes, Rogue, Chetco and Illinois Rivers. He has three permits one for the Rogue, the Illinois and the Upper Chetco. Most guides have the Rogue permit but there is only a hand full that have either the Illinois or the Upper Chetco. Tyson fishes for Fall Salmon, Winter and Summer Steelhead. He has a drift boat and powerboat to get you into fish no matter where they may be. He also fly fish for Winter and Summer Steelhead and if you enjoy fly fishing the Illinois River is a great river for it! The lower Rogue gets a great run of half pound and adult steelhead that are great to target with a fly as well. If you are into hooking steelhead then the Elk and Sixes are a great choice. They get very strong runs of winter steelhead and some days you can get into many of these hot, drag screaming silver bullets!

Thanks for checking out this Guided Fishing Episode and if you have any questions for Tyson or want to book a trip you can contact him below, be sure to mention that you saw his video on Steelhead Stalkers.
