Crane Prairie Trout Fishing

We spent the afternoon at Crane Prairie Reservoir after fishing the morning at Wickiup and hooked some nice little trout!! We also experienced the most crazy hatch of bugs we had ever seen, you guys will not believe how many bugs were out in the middle of the lake. I guess this is why crane prairie was once one the best trophy rainbow trout lakes on the west coast, but now its more known for its large illegally introduced bass and illegally introduced stickleback minnows! Hopefully they treat it like they did Diamond Lake and start over because its a shame to be out on the lake all by yourself and catch 10 inch trout when at one time the average was 18-20 inches. It is still a beautiful lake and from what I have heard still holds a few big rainbows.
