"-Sacramento River Fall Chinook Salmon-"

Had a fun day of fishing on the Sacramento River with Danny and his buddy Scott. This is the first time I had fished the Sacramento River and it turned out to be a good day of fishing. We started out the morning fishing a few holes below the boat launch but slowly made our way down river until we came across five boats in one area. This seemed a little odd since the other holes had one or no boats on them. We watched one boat net a salmon and it was the first fish that Danny had even seen up to this point on the sac, but the season only opened the weekend before. We started working this area of water and ended up hooking one fish before I had to head to work, if we had been able to stay for the rest of the day we might have got another one. We fished sardine-wrapped kwikfish the whole time and were looking for a monster salmon. If you want to learn how to fillet a sardine and wrap it on a kwikfish you can watch a video HERE! The late run of fall chinook on the Sacramento tend to run pretty large so we were targeting those bigger fish. We ended up hooking a fresh 16lb hen that put up a nice fight!
