Paradise Lodge Resort Video
High Definition Video Destination of Paradise Lodge Resort, on the Wild and Scenic Lower Rogue River!
"-Paradise Lodge Resort-"
The Video above is of our trip down the Lower Rogue River to Paradise Lodge Resort. This Resort is one of the most remote lodges on the Rogue River with no roads leading here the only way in is by boat, by foot or by air. We had a great two days at Paradise Lodge and did not want to leave! We chose to hike into Paradise and I'm glad we did as there are some amazing views of the river. The hike in to Paradise is on the Rogue River Trail and goes right through the Wild and Scenic section of the Rogue River. The Rogue was one of the original eight rivers included in the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 1968. The Rogue National Wild and Scenic River is surrounded by forested mountains and rugged boulder and rock-lined banks. Blossom Bar is about a mile upriver from Paradise and only takes around twenty minutes to hike to. Famous author Zane Gray spent a lot of time just upriver from Paradise Lodge and wrote about this beautiful section of river.
We stayed for two days and had a lot of fun fishing for half-pound steelhead, driving golf balls on the grass airstrip and just hanging out. Paradise Lodge offers three meals a day and are included in your stay. The food was very good and much of the fruit and vegetables are grown right at the lodge in many of the gardens and orchards. Lodging here is very unique and you can choose between older rustic cabins or the new Garden House building that provides a modern lodging experience.
I grew up in Oregon and this is one of the most beautiful places you could every visit! In 1903, Charlie Pettinger homesteaded this 85 acre parcel on the banks of a long, calm stretch of the Rogue River known as Paradise Bar. Here he raised a family of eight children. The location was so remote that very few outsiders ever visited, with the exception of Hathaway Jones, who delivered the mail from Grants Pass to the Coast along what later became known as the Rogue River Trail. As late as 1963, mail was still delivered from Marial to Agness by boat or pack mule, as no roads were ever cut into this pristine wilderness. Much of Paradise is the same as it was when it was homesteaded in 1903.
